SHOULD OR SHOULD I NOT?
If winning is everything, then one must win at all times. If you believe this is true, why not grant me the permission to elaborate my perspectives just on this one and nothing else. “Permission granted”. Yes, Sir. Thanks for the permission.
Engaging in a worthwhile task can only pay off the debt completely owed should the performer obtain a good success. If so, why must I not win? It is always a reflection of a refreshing and assuring nature of one’s potency when the attainment of one’s highly desired goals is glaring. It’s more heartwarming to achieve the end of that glorious task. Imagine seeing yourself some few metres away from the finishing line in a 100m race when your closest rival is 49m behind you in an Olympic game? How glamorous? How great a feeling of having the potential of surpassing even the reigning legend, Usian Bolt. Hey! The feeling of accomplishment in this situation having to see the thousands of loved ones and audience in general gathered around will, indeed, in my opinion be above the description of words. Yes, you heard me right; no combination of the letters of the English alphabets can succinctly be used to describe the feeling around you. How about the reversal of this?
But do you think with this tremendous feat, it is worth winning? If so, restart the operations of your cerebrum on this thought as soonest as possible maybe you may get the revelation.
The biggest problem of your life may set in after your well fought for victory. Your relationship with people especially your own people will be the substrate for this new development. Oh! Yeah, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after the induction of the 3rd John’s presidency, who is one from their folds, offers a good and palatable food for thought. Intra-party disagreements and struggling as to the correct pace and type of activities which should be engaged in could not spare the party. “Atta, mo fe dull”, “what have you actually contributed to the success of the party?”, “you have no significant followers”, “are we in power or we are in opposition” and the list is endless were the expressions worth remembering not forgetting “greedy bastards, boot lickers, cockroaches coming out of their holes”. “But my brothers and sisters, have you forgotten am now a star that must glitter on everybody” seems to be answer to the questioners. “But here I am caught up in a dilemma; do I leave you, my people, or try to woo some faint-hearted opponents since I do not have the muscle to attempt at the hard-hearted ones? I know doing both will be the best but it is not feasible. I know you built me up to even be addressed “Your Excellency” but those are Ghanaians also, so what should I do? In fact, I am tired! Who even made me win? Shouldn’t it have been better to lose?” have the potential of being the frequent thoughts of the winner of the elections. Hey! Am just thinking aloud.
Dearest reader, why not take a look at the loser’s new life before you conclude “I better lose”? Hi, even in losing, there is confusion! “Na who cause the defeat of the elephant?” was the most glaring but precarious question which needed an answer. Different fingers were pointed in divergent directions of who and what sent the players back to the bench. It was quite interesting hearing some things about the hitherto well-knitted family members of honourary and revered status. In an attempt to find solace in the land of back benchers, people even accused the most successful person in the task under description on their side. How fascinating life can be? “Why should they even have tried?” was the question on some people’s lips. But, they did.
Mine oh mine, defeat be hell! Charlie, all the goodies of yesteryears are gone for good until only God knows when. Yeah, “Chasing the elephant into the bush: the politics of complacency” aptly sets the flare for what defeat really means. The verbal exchanges that greeted this yet-to-be-published book (as at the time) could not be forgotten by many Ghanaians and other political animals all over the world.
My dearest reader, I guess you read it all. Should I (or you) win or not? That is the question but whatever you decide should be well thought out for neither is a safe haven. You hear?
Folk, your thought today can make the world better tomorrow.
